At Pengelly Retreat you can enjoy a bespoke and very private wedding ceremony, led by your chosen Celebrant and delivered to you by our experienced Wedding Co-ordinator, Phoebe from Piccolo Weddings. Everything is put together with tender care, love and a dash of magic to ensure that your celebration here is all that the two of you dreamed of. When it comes to locations for your romantic celebrant-led ceremony you will be spoilt for choice here – there are so many potential perfect wedding places and the one you choose is completely individual to you. Here are some of our favourite ceremony locations at Pengelly Retreat that you might like to consider….
A Wedding By the Water
Hold your celebrant-led wedding ceremony by the waters of the gorgeous wild lake at Pengelly Retreat. This location is so tranquil, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the water. You may like to have an arch decorated with simple white tulle or beautiful flowers to frame the lake behind you as you stand together to exchange your vows. After your ceremony, a romantic boat ride just for two makes for a dreamy wedding photo opportunity.
A Secret Ceremony in the Gardens
Pengelly Retreat has 5 acres of gardens, lakes and meadows tucked away in a rural location between Cornwall’s north and south coasts. The lush gardens are full of magical hideaways where you can hold your ceremony. At the top of the land, there’s a secret garden of walkways which open out into small pool-side deck areas: a unique ceremony location hidden amongst the wild flowers and trees.
A Romantic Meadow Backdrop
Beyond the lakes, you’ll find a grassy meadow with romantic bridge over a tranquil pool. You may like to hold your ceremony here with the peaceful sound of the stream as it cascades into the pool. Then wander hand in hand through the gardens for photographs among the jungle gardens, bamboo bridges and lakes.
The Tranquil Stream-side Tipi
If you prefer to be under-cover but still able to enjoy the beautiful sights and sound of water and gardens, then our tranquil stream-side tipi could be the ceremony location for you. Gather together on the wooden deck and amongst the fairy lights with the backdrop of beautiful gardens and stream beyond. The the tipi is nestled into a grove of willow trees and in the springtime the bluebells flower here. A wooden ladder steps down into a pool in the stream if you feel brave enough to get your feet wet! Or light a fire in the outdoor fire bowl to bring some extra warmth on cooler days.
Weddings & Elopements – Where to celebrate your wedding meal?
Locations for your Wedding Meal at Pengelly Retreat
There are plenty of options to choose from depending on the style and feel you’d like for your wedding celebration meal. You may choose to celebrate with a romantic lakeside picnic on a cosy blanket, barefoot and boho style! Or for something a bit more formal, take a seat at a beautifully designed table setting in the gardens for a delicious meal. A favourite option is to enjoy your wedding meal at a table for up to 12 in the romantic stream-side tipi. The canvas shelters you from rain or sun and the side of the tipi can be left open so that you can enjoy the tranquil sight and sound of the stream and gardens around you.
Wedding Photography by the Ocean
After your wedding meal, you may like to head to one of the nearby beaches on north or south coast of Cornwall for memorable wedding photographs taken amongst the dunes, with the ocean as your backdrop.
Relax by the Lake
After all the excitement of your special day, relax together in our lakeside log cabin, complete with romantic log burner, plush double bed and stunning lake views. Up to 6 of your guests can stay on site too in our lakeside luxury yurt or comfy Mill Annexe apartment. This lakeside retreat is yours for your stay, so star gaze, watch the moon rise and wake to a glorious sunrise over the lake.
