Beyond the lakes of our country retreat you’ll find native trees, hedgerows and a meadow with a patchwork of different grasses. Discover peaceful sundowner and picnic spots or find your perfect place for reflection, painting, reading or walking your dog as you enjoy the ultimate holiday in Cornwall.
In the meadow beyond the lakes, you’ll find a patchwork of wild grasses, two smaller pools with bridges and a little woodland glade perfect for a picnic lunch – it’s hard to believe this private paradise is only a short drive from West Cornwall’s popular seaside hubs of Hayle and St Ives! In amongst the luscious sprawl there are plenty of places where you can relax, reflect or read a book – if you can tear yourself away from your own private deck at the Boat House log cabin or Sail House luxury yurt that is. Our favourite picnic place is just under the trees in a natural glade with carved wooden benches.
The Sunset Spot
In the Meadow a short walk from your self-catering accommodation, you’ll also discover a pretty curved bridge over a tranquil pool. This is a lovely spot flanked by the meadow to the east and overlooking both lakes to the west. During the day it’s a peaceful place for meditation or yoga – idyllic if you are looking for a self-led yoga retreat in Cornwall or would like some private lessons. And, as the evening draws in, it’s an ideal sundowner picnic spot where you can sit back and watch the colours of the sky reflected in the lakes. We’ve seen some magical sunsets here, topped off by the grey heron flying across the sun-streaked sky, a beautiful sight.
